The Presentation When preparing your presentation, try not to do too much. Many first-timers try to go all out and cover as much information as possible. However, this can make for a presentation that is too long and can cause the speaker to wander quite a bit. If you choose to use slides during your presentation, be sure to keep them relevant and limit them to the bare minimum needed. This way, if you feel as though you are taking too much time, you have some “wiggle room” to work with. And again, keep in mind that if things go well you will need to allow time for questions after you are finished with your presentation. It is perfectly acceptable to use quotes, humor, and wit during your presentation, but be careful not to over-do it and certainly do not rely on such things to carry you through. The best presentations are those that actually have something to say-those that have “meat” and not just “fluff.” |
